XCy has the ability to deliver IT services and communications services using an Engineering methodology where normal off-the-shelf or commercially available services don’t meet your requirements. This capability is a key differentiator for XCy’s service offering.
In a cost sensitive industry, lite or “on the fly” designs are common and ideal for simple projects with limited budget. The features of this approach are rapid development of scope, reduced or concept level documentation and reliance on professional judgement and high level planning. XCy Engineers are accustomed to delivering projects for customers using this method.
If your project is complex, high budget or long duration then XCy recommend a more rigorous engineering methodology with focus upon highly consultative planning, design and project management. This engineering methodology is required by many larger businesses and ASX-listed companies who require a higher level of project and design accountability and governance. We provide a staged design process, formal revision control with documentation review and sign-off which will stand up to quality and audit contractual obligations.
The outcomes of the engineering design process will include a Customer Requirements Brief which will be used to develop a Detailed Scope of Works and inform the Detailed Design, including equipment and performance specification, network diagrams and cabling plans.
Delivery milestones are defined in the Execution Plan which determines the resourcing, cash flow and schedule of the project. The Bill of Materials will describe exactly what parts and materials will be utilised whilst a Test Plan is created to ensure the design requirements are achieved to the client satisfaction at the end of construction.
Each document will define XCy and client roles & responsibilities and be managed through a Revision Control and Document Transmission Register. For projects with a large delivery team or interdependencies a Communications Plan will be agreed at the outset. Risk management is key to the success of complex projects and Issues, Risk and Change Registers are created to capture and manage these issues.
